Interesting facts about the history of the castle and town
XIII century
The defence tower in Czchów was probably built at the end of the 13th century. Cylindrical at the bottom, octagonal at the top, it served as a free-standing watchtower, guarding the trade route running through the Dunajec valley.
1280 - 1287
The defence tower in Czchów came under attack the Tatars most probably during the third Tatar invasion of Poland. This probably happened in 1287. The castle hill at that time was probably protected by a wooden palisade.
1287
In 1287 St. Kinga, widow of Bolesław the Chaste, allegedly fled the Tatars to Czchów. A folk legend says that when the princess and her retinue were passing through Czchów, she, thirsty, asked the locals for water. Unfortunately, the townspeople offered them prunes instead of water. In return, Saint Kinga punished the town by saying that there will always be a lack of water in Czchów, but the plums will grow abundantly. She herself prayed near the town and a spring gushed out there, which still exists today.
XIV century
In the first quarter of the 14th century, on the initiative of Władysław Łokietek, a castle was added to the Czchów defence tower. It was built gradually. At first, the tower was surrounded by a stone wall, and in the next stage a foreground in the form of a gate tower was erected.
1327
In 1327 in the tower of the Czchów castle there was a customs chamber for goods imported Hungary.
1340
In 1340 Kazimierz the Great ordered Czchów to be surrounded by a wall.
1356
In 1356 Imram son of Żegota was the burgrave of the Czchów castle.
18 July 1372
On 18 July 1372 in Czchów Elżbieta Łokietkówna issued a privilege by which she established a warehouse for all goods in Kraków.
XV century
In the 15th century, in order to increase the defence of the castle in Czchów, a gate tower with dimensions of 9.90 x 11.40 m was erected.On the opposite side of the tower, a residential building with a basement was built next to the defence wall.

At the turn of the 15th/16th century a non-basemented wing of rectangular outline with a stone floor was added to the residential building of the Czchów castle the south.

2010
In 2010 by the resolution of the Town Council in Czchów a fountain was built to commemorate the 700th birthday of Casimir the Great and named after Saint Kinga.
